Elinor Ostrom became the first woman to win a Nobel Prize in economics, honored along with fellow American Oliver Williamson today for analyzing economic governance.

The Chicago Cubs baseball team filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection today, a step that will allow its corporate parent, the Tribune Co., to sell the team in an $845 million deal.
