I don't think the Beatles were exactly scrounging for hits. They wrote a bunch of tunes for other people. On purpose.

Apparently it's easy to forget the rampant racism.

SixStringMicky:First, thanks for sharing those thoughts. There is some truth in that. The early 1960s were an extenion of the 1950's(Morals,Wholesome Family Life,Etc.) Then the mid-late 60's came, with new changes(good and bad.) Yet,it wasn't a total mess. It did a lot for our culture.

A great song then and now. If ever there was a "World Without Love", it's the one we live in today! Back in the 60's songs like this made people very happy, as they still can do today, when people take the time to listen and enjoy them!

Peter and Gordon had a hit with this song and it was superb, but I don't really know if they did anything else that was any good, perhaps somebody could enlighten me?

I was a teenager in the 1960's and it was a great time, as everything changed then, mostly for the better I think.

However, we, as adolescents, still got the tail end of Victorian morality in as much as you certainly couldn't have a sleep over with your girl friend as, according to my Granny, you would have gone to Hell.
