Colin Bradley is back with http://ArtistsNetwork.tv to show you how to use your pastel pencils to paint realistic cats step by step. From the sweet expression of a fluffy white kitten, to the lustrous fur of a black cat and intricate markings on a tabby cat, Colin guides you from initial photo and line drawing to finishing highlights. Along the way he shares techniques for strokework, blending and layering. By the end of this video you will have cats that come to life on the paper.

  • See I love the grid technique! BUT!! I want to be able to draw from my mind and stuff. I want the outcome of my totally original drawings to be as good as when i use the grid.

  • Oh, I see...there is a full-length video on the website...

  • Looks like you jumped from doing the black cat to another one...confused me. I would love to see more work done on the black one.

  • I really love Colin's work thanks for adding his work =)

  • My tabby passed away before Christmas. I would love to draw her. How would I begin with color and highlights as you did with the black cat?

  • i use this method for very large scale painting

  • @BlkFlamesz For still life: Draw from the inside out, don't do the outline first otherwise you can catch yourself out.

Right off the top of your head, just keep drawing, although if your not doing still and life drawings you should because that really helps to improve your own original pieces

  • I want to learn how to do this!

  • @BlkFlamesz years of practice basically!
