Nice attempt to pick apart the Nike DC plan, but I have to disagree with you on several aspects. First, I agree with your comment on the risk based funds; scrap them. Replace them with target date maturity funds. Second, I disagree with encouraging participants to go into a mutual fund window (unless they are a bit more educated of an investor)... the NT funds probably have a lower fee structure and are fine investment options (but probably low alpha generators)... running out of room.

Company pride is good yet I take exception to your language, "pick apart the plan." I have friends and clients who work at Nike and my goal is most noble, that is, improve the plan. You deserve the highest quality plan. Terms like "alpha generators" are for engineering products, not finance. Even John Bogle, Vanguard founder, says target funds make no sense, all you get is less transparency and a fee mill for investment firms. My advice, raise the bar. Thanks again for the feedback.
