This was "underrated" because it initially received VERY LIMITED DISTRIBUTION in the United States- the distributor virtually "threw it away" when it was first released in July 1970, and "burned it off" in only a few theaters at the end of the year. In Germany, believe it or not, this was a smash. Jerry later claimed a sixty four week engagement in ONE Berlin theater helped recoup the negative costs for the film.

This is the first movie i ever saw. Thank you Mom for taking me. I laughed til i was on my knees banging my fists on my movie seat. It was a good beginning to a love of movies
