Anwar addresses Sin Ming parents and board members

In his speech, Anwar paid tribute to renowned Chinese educationist Sim Mow Yu, who passed away recently, and the late Goh Cheng Chew, a coffee stall owner and key figure in resuscitating the school in 1986.

Anwar said Sim was his friend during his activist days with the Malaysian Muslim Youth Movement (Abim) in the 1970s and had once shared the same stage during a ceramah in Klang over language issues.

He asked the crowd, comprising of parents and students, to observe a one-minute silence in Sims memory as the rain poured on.

sin ming school 220209 anwar caligraphyThough occasionally venturing into highly political topics, Anwar ended his speech calling for racial unity by quoting famous Chinese proverb si hai ji nei chie xiong di (all men are brothers).

Later, Anwar was asked to write the proverb in Chinese calligraphy which was auctioned off to a sum of RM150,000 to school board advisor Yan Khoon Yin, after a fierce auction following an opening bid of RM18,000.

Tobeebabee, yes UMNO have given to the society, but the country has gone down to the point where murder and corruption can be easily done and swept under the table with such ease. WE need a country where the NEP is used to help the poor, not based on race. If your income is below such level, you are entitled to this. The universities should be open for everyone who's capable not just for malay. Chinese, Indian and any other race are still citizens of malaysia.

@DesertFighter87 Di Malaysia, Walau pun Umno terdapat banyak masalah, tetapi no one is perfect, yet Umno lah yang akan selalu defend the rights of Melayu and Islam. Who is brainwashing who?We are living in the IT age where information can easily be obtained by the citizens of the world. Our gov mass media had failed to brainwadhed the new generation as most of them could straight away know what really happening by surfing the blogsphere and the net. If 20 years ago, leaders of the goverment could easily told the the kids that if you voting for the opposition, 513 will reoccur. Now the big lie could not deter the passion of rakyat for a change.

ALtantuya is a criminal? What about Kugan? What about the multi-million commision for two pld submarine? NEP is not benefitting the real poors. It only help those who is well connected with the BN ( cronies). Look at kampung-kampung, while BN Dato' driving exotic cars and sending their kids to overseas for study, most of the Bumi's still living in poverty. Many are not highly educated and then been cheated by the propaganda controlled by the gov. It is a joke if some saying NEP still relevant.
