This is a set of four 30-second spots promoting KFSN-TV's (Fresno, Ca.) switch from CBS to ABC in September 1985. These promos were originally on TV-Ark.

The first three spots feature KFSN anchors John Wallace, Dan Taylor (sports), and Nancy Osborne, while the fourth promotes a "premiere party" featuring the airing of the "Dynasty" pilot movie, and a locally-produced special. It's probably safe to say KFSN's final CBS broadcast was the Sept. 8, 1985 airing of "60 Minutes".

The switch was necessitated when KFSN's parent, Capital Cities Communications, purchased ABC. Fresno's previous ABC affiliate, KJEO-TV (now KGPE) picked up CBS. John Wallace now works at KGPE, while Dan Taylor and Nancy Osborne are still at KFSN.

  • Notice how the ABC promo included a snippet from The Price Is Right. Oops.

  • It was from a syndicated version of "The Price is Right" that aired for one season in 1985-86. And notice that it isn't Bob Barker holding the michrophone -- it's Tom Kennedy who hosted this version.

  • Wow! This brings back memories. I used to remember this as a kid. I fell like old now.

  • When you're switching FROM CBS to another network...and still using CBS-produced animation (We've Got the Touch - the "channel 30" follows the trend)...hmm.

And is that Ed O'Brien's voiceover on the final promo?

  • @tmsan74 I don't remember Nancy Osborne, but I do remember **Antonio Salas.** Is that who you mean?

  • I too remember the 30/47 switch.

  • nancy osborne and angelo stalis are still on KFSN . i remember when KFSN Channel 30 was CBS and KJEO channel 47 was ABC. 47 is no longer KJEO. it's now KGPE.

  • Don't bring it up to anyone from L.A. area or the San Fran. bay, believe me I'm from Cal. and the regional jokes about Central Valley people, "the last group of people you can make fun of" is astounding. I been to Fresno a few times, have family (my Mom's side) in Kern county and growing up in the Palm Springs area, the commonality of being a rural/suburban Californian. "Stand up and show them FRESNO'S within your pay range". Indio Cal. had fields too, but not Roeding park and Chaffee zoo.+

  • Wow I had no idea Dan Taylor was so thin. He's really let himself go.

  • Itica Milanes who is currently KFSN's weekend morning anchor was at one time at KTRK in Houston. And she is so pretty.
