Rance Poehler, president, Panasonic Solutions Company, drops a Toughbook 31 over 20 feet to the deck of the USS Intrepid during a launch event for the product in NYC on May 11, 2010. The device booted without a problem.

The Toughbook 31 is the sixth generation of Panasonics fully-rugged clamshell notebook line, which has become the gold standard of rugged computing over the past 14 years.     Panasonic dont sell direct to civilians. There made for military and governments, when your only concern is that the you might die if your laptop fails in the field then these make perfect sense. You dont need amazing performance for spreadsheets and communications.

    £3500 seems a bit much for the latest one though!

    The toughbook is designed for working under harsh environmentals, not for regular consumers. You have inhaled too much iDrug (no other laptop brands are good?).

  • @selyss12345 you'd be surprised, I've dropped one of the lower end models with the screen open on the corner of the screen and it didn't even have any damage.

  • @selyss12345 Or we could just try a drop HALF that height with a Macbook/Macbook pro/whatever mac, have it land the same way and see the results :)

  • Now try the same test when the lid is open and make sure it falls on a corner. :)
