I assume you didn't actually watch the video (too busy hating Google and all that, I understand). If you had, you might've noticed it's an entirely open standard. Any company can implement the protocol any way they want, and Google won't enter the picture at all if your Wave provider deems it so. Also, there's a lot more nifty features like realtime collaborations, versioning etc. But you'll never need those. Since you just spend your time whining about irrelevant things.
