the first question is kind of mean=P Bring back Firefly!:P
-
(part 2)
However, Dr Horrible's success meant money was eventually made through sale of DVD's, and other merch. They used this to reimburse the actors for their time.
Other internet series like The Guild depend upon fan support and donations. While The Gulid is also non-profit, merchandise sales and donations are used to cover production costs.
So, internet series won't make money unless they get really popular - and the only way to get that popular, is to be non-profit.

@ravenhpltc242 I think it's mainly hosted on Hulu, which does have advertisements.

@Andross881704 At least we got the continuation in the form of comic books. Which reminds me, I need to read them!

umm....well i dont think the point of dr. horrible was to make money...
but they can get money from advertising JUST like tv shows, only the amount of money they can get is directly related to the number of unique page visits per day etc
then theres the DVD release and track downloads they're putting out over amazon

I can't speak for all internet released media, but Dr. Horrible was entirely non profit. They could have release it on a site that hosted advertising, but were very particular in their decision to release it on hulu. They wanted absolutely NO advertising - completely free and uninterrupted, straight to the public. The actors and crew all performed voluntarily, and Joss's connections allowed them access to a lot of sets at a minimal cost (eg, Dr Horrible's house)...
Was all of this taken with a video camera, or just a digital camera that happens to have video? Any chance I could get a copy of the thing as a whole? I was there, but all I had was nine minutes on my brother's digital camera, so I'd love to have more!
Thanks for posting it, if nothing else! :D

Hi! I took this with a digital camera. I don't have the entire thing, about half, just what I posted on You Tube. Since the files are upwards of 100 mb each, I don't know how I would get this to you. I think there are some tools out there where you can save You Tube videos. Hope that helps!
