Major loophole not mentioned here. If you do not exhaust your original benefits by the end of 2009 you are NOT eligible for any extended benefits. So for example a person who started their 26 weeks of benefits mid-2009 but then got a job for a few months and will not exhaust those benefits until January 2010 will not be eligible for any extension vs a person who started benefits at the same time but did not work.

What about all the displaced workers (like me after 24 years ) in the auto industry? These dealerships were closed down and will never get going again, and even though the unemployement rate in VA is not as high as some others, we still don't have jobs.
Alot of us have no where to turn, we are not finding jobs.....We are just as unemployed as individuals in states with the higher rates. If we are following the rules, we should also be allowed the extensions.
