Giving up some much-needed sleep, I ventured to the north end of the Las Vegas strip at 2:30AM to watch the Stardust implode. I'll be posting more Vegas-related videos in the next few weeks. So if you're interested, please subscribe!

  • In my opinion, It's obvious that alot of the people who attended the Implosion were not natives of Vegas or haven't been here very long because that Implosion among all the rest in the past is a sign of Vegas history vanishing before our eyes and I loved the old Vegas....Every hotel on the strip now looks almost exactly the same, how boring!!! At least the old hotels had individual character and style!!!

  • It is a shame that the old hotel/casinos have to go, as many of them did have unique character. Of course nothing lasts forever. Like everything else in Vegas, it's all about money. When the old casinos are no longer as profitable as they used to be, they will be replaced. It is kind of sad to see them go. However I don't agree that the "new" places all look the same. You can't tell me that New York-New York looks like the Luxor?

  • Wow. That was such a strange sad thing to watch. It's so odd that they made it into such a spectacle like the 4th of July or something... This might seem a little extreme, but I felt like I was about to witness an execution. I'm just very into preserving history...and these cheering people are obviously in a completely different headspace...to the point that I can't even understand how they could react that way to such a sad event.

  • I think a lot of people (including me) have mixed feelings when an old building comes down here. It's sad to see something familiar disappear, but at the same time it makes space for newer (and hopefully better) hotels. The building was coming down, whether the crowd watched or not. It was already closed, and stood empty. The employees and patrons that made the place live and breathe were already gone. It was just an empty shell. I think the crowd enjoyed the spectacle, not the closing.

  • when im 18 im moving to vegas but not for the reason people think. i love the dessert and the history of the place. i hate gambling and drinking and partying but i love the feeling of waking up in the hot summer air at 3am in the quiet and looking down to see the blazing lights of the fantastic city...but....the history's vanished...tropicana and new frontier and stardust....3 historical buildings that have been wiped from the face of the earth -.-'

  • This is the reason that the USA will never have History. When a Building gets to be over 50 Years Old.... We Implode it!

    So Sad

  • This is the best implosion video yet that I've seen with all the fireworks. It's probably a sad event for the people who grew up there or visited years ago.

  • Im glad las vegas isn't that old of a city, id hate to see casinos that were used in like the 20's and stuff being blown up because the architecture of buildings in the late 1800s and early 1900's was beautiful.

  • I used to stay there a lot when i was a kid... Vegas just isn't the same anymore... The whole city center is such a waste of money. Anyone remember when the coke museum was like a legit tour? And they had the floor where you could have all the fucking soda you wanted? Yeah i miss that...

  • Wonder how much the commercial sharks in Vegas charged for viewing? lols

  • Nevertheless, it was part of Las Vegas history. I wouldn't have cheered.

  • I like some of the newer hotels in Las Vegas. I loved the old Las Vegas but I never found hotels at the north end of the strip that appealing. Excluding the Sahara, of course.

  • 16 people haven't even been to the Stardust.

  • Even though the Stardust hotel was running for over 45 years, the hotel's a legend and the Echelon won't last even close to that long. :P
