  • Das ist eine der ganz großen Deutungen dieser letzten Klaviersonate Beethovens! Altersreif der eine und der andre. Über die Partitur der Missa Solemnis schrieb Beethoven "von Herzen möge es zu Herzen gehen". Ein Wunsch auch für dieses Werk! Nur, wen erreichen diese Werke heute noch? Den Schmerz darüber nimmt die Sonate schon in sich hinein. Der Taube nahm das Glück dieser Musik, unerhört, mit sich sich ins Grab. Was nehmen wir?

    Quite an intellectual marvel this performance is. One can lose one's sense of time and space in Serkin's loving hands.
