  • Awesome solo by Eli, I won't be surprised when I hear his name later on. Also, he has nerves of steel dropping that solo with chris potter standing next to him...I would have crapped my pants

  • I can tell I'm gonna be seeing Eli's face on Downbeat magazine one of these days. and Chris Potter rips it again. As always.

  • @bigaboo1388 LOL. This world never ceases to amaze me. It seems like every youtube user is just your typical armchair quaterback. Cmon, man get your shit together rather than posting about how other players are boring and repetitive.

  • What is wrong with repeating a lick? There are dozens of Parker, Trane, Cannonball, Sonny, Diz, Miles, Gonzalo, McCoy, Brecker, Potter, Redman (plus EVERY OTHER JAZZ MUSICIAN EVER?!!!?) solos that use repeated licks. The kid (19 at this point I think?!?) is standing up next to argubly the most technically advanced Saxophonist that has ever lived. Nerves aside, I think he did a bloody good job and would destroy all of the haters and amature trolls commenting below.

  • daamn that other tenor is beast, and a good imitator of chris's style

  • @finalshooter2 No doubt the kid has skill, but you can't deny he played the same lick at least four times. If you can't hear that, you've got some ear training to do...

  • @icbates I don't think he's saying the kid sucks. I think he's just saying that his lines are boring and repetitive. Because they are.

He's young and still got a fuckload to learn - and his OWN sound to develop. There's already a Chris Potter.

  • @Funkenhm He's also an award winner of several big music awards, and started playing professionally at age 15. Let's see you pick up a horn....

  • @Funkenhm I don't think we are hearing the same thing. Maybe you should listen to the video again. Or maybe you should get ahold of your envy. The man obviously can play.

  • eli is a beast!

  • @Jazzsaxichioka nope :)
