Aka "Moon Love," this is a pop orchestral treatment of the famous Tchaikovsky melody from the 2nd movement of his Fifth Symphony.

Transferred from the original 45rpm: Somerset A-144 - Back Beat Symphony by "101" Strings, arranged by A. Hughes

  • thanks for the download and particularly for the information. I feel really dumb as I had never realized that 'the beautiful tune of Moon Love' was based on Tchaikovsky's Fifth Symphony...

  • @judyaosta If you haven't already done so, you can check out numerous YouTube uploads of that 2nd movement. There's also a lovely secondary melody in that same movement that was the basis for the semi-popular 1959 recording by Billy Storm called "I've Come Of Age" (also available on YouTube).

  • My mum bought this album back in late 50's. I was about eleven, and for some reason or other, I never forgot it. We had an old Grundig Fleetwood hi-fi set I don't remember where she got it. Now I am 66 years old and still like the sound of this song.

thanks for the advice. I have listened to the tracks you recommended and have found a wonderful version of 'Moon Love' by Chet Baker.

Thank you again for your highly entertaining selection of uploads
