@TheMrFunktastic2 You dont even hardly feel the drill. its faster and has actually proven safer with less trauma to the bone itself the chances of cracking a rib or fx a sternum are about 10 times more likely than having anything go wrong w/ the EZ-IO
-
@jgrandison2004 the EZ IO? you mean the electric drill going in just below your knee? Nah I'll take the bigass needle going into my sternum any day of the week xD
-
in the field, any stick (iv/io) is a dirty stick because it is not a sterile environment, even if you have a sterile pad to place your equipment on. but infection would usually be something secondary to worry about if you had to get emergency access with the fast one
-
@punkdude1668 they probably had to draw straws
-
Ow shit.
-
how is that sterile with your kit on the floor, you put your flush on the floor and then flushed the line hence inducing infection!! maye on the fontline fine but in a practice does not seem very clever to me.
-
Whoever that dude lying on the floor is, he was either paid a fuckload of money or he's fucking retarded.
-
oh....my.... God.... now way in hell would i volunteer for this I/O... mabye the EZ I/O but not this.... good for you man...

It is a interosseous line. Similar to an IV but instead of going into a vein it goes into a bone. From the marrow of the bone the medication or fluids, whatever you introduce will deseminate to the rest of the body just like an IV. Usually used in an emergency or when you need a line fast and can not get an IV started for what ever reason. Severe dehydration, traumatic blood loss excetera.
