I had the very great honor of interviewing an icon of Australian Television.
This is from the 2006 Logies Red Carpet, as you can probably tell there were a million questions that I wanted to ask and I didn't know which one to ask, talk about pressure, there is someone you admire so much and you get a chance to speak to him and he generously gives his time.
I will never forget this moment, and I was very saddened by the news this past week.
RIP Don Lane.
It's the Australian television way, discard the REAL talent of yester year, until their dead. My Mother Hazel Phillips is the same. All her buddies never get ANY recognition. Unlike Betty White in America, Australians have a use by date! Mum lives alone and still performs. Thanks for nothin Aussie T.V.

I was a fan for 45 years and so I became a familiar face - in all that time he never failed to acknowledge me with a touch or a smile or a "Hi!" Thanks Don! You're the best! See you again some day. xx
