I've put up a lot of solo stuff so I thought I'd put up this little groove from a recent drum clinic. Sorry about the camera angle but that's where it was set. However, It's a good lesson in left hand "ghost notes" technique for anyone who's interested. The track is played by the band Soul Stew and it's our version of Herbie Hancock's tune "Keep On Doin' It". Enjoy.
Awesome, Mark. The groove with the double side-stick is awesome and the snappy 2 and 4 snare and killer ghost notes is really killer. But every time I watch this (I've come back 4 or 5 times since I first found it) I can't wait to get to the drum fill at 3:14 that ends with the loose flam to the bass drum - nothing too complex, but so laid back and perfectly executed. Thank you for this clip. Helps my playing and reminds me that even well programmed drum loops got nuttin' on the real thing.
