Luke the Kangaroo

Luke was saved from his mums pouch after they were hit by a vehicle. He was a tiny little pinky but through perseverance by wildlife carers survived.
He has imprinted on humans so can't be released so was sterilized and is now used as a carer himself and looks after other orphaned Kangaroos.
Kangaroos have all but been wiped out in Western Australia's Pilbara region as the local population of gun owners estimated to be over 400 plus indiscriminately shoot and leave to rot anything that moves within their sights. Even the licenced shooter who can properly identify the difference between endangered species and those with Joeys who they generally don't shoot, have nothing to kill now.
On a recent trip around the Kimberley and after checking several pouches while on my travels it was sad to see dead Joeys that could have survived had they been removed and given to local carers.

No, Luke is an Eastern Grey Kangaroo found in the West and the one in the other vid was a Wallaby from around The Northern Territory in Australia's Far North. Luke was also saved from certain death after his mum was hit by a car, by another caring soul who did the righty and stopped and checked the pouch. He was about the same age as the one i saved in the other vid and they take an incredible amount of work to keep alive which shows the dedication of all wildlife carers. Thanks for watching..
