One of the spiderlings of funnel-weaver (a.k.a. grass spider; Agelena silvatica, family Agelenidae) had just finished the second(?) moult on the cobweb. Another sibling sneaked up on the vulnerable nymph who was resting beside the exuvia. I wondered if a cannibalism was going to happen under my eyes, but it was not the case after all. Early-December 2009 in Japan.

出嚢してから飼育容器内で張り巡らした棚網上でクサグモ幼体が次々に脱皮していました。小さな抜け殻が網のあちこちにぶら下がっています。孵化してから何も食べていないは
出嚢後のクサグモ幼体はいわゆる団居の形成を行いませんでした。
一般にクモの幼体は3齢になると分散します。3齢でようやく毒腺が発達し、自力で虫が倒せるようになるのだそうです。
