POMONA- A night that began with a delay because of a power outage at Pomona High School finished with Covina surviving a furious fourth-quarter rally to win its Valle Vista League opener. The Colts outlasted the Red Devils, 16-14, stopping Pomona (2-3, 0-1) on a two-point conversion attempt late in Friday's game. Covina improved to 4-1 overall, 1-0 in league. Covina senior running back Vincent Venegas finished with 115 yards rushing and one TD. Pomona junior wide receiver Terell Mosby caught four passes for 106 yards and two touchdowns. Pomona, however, was stopped on their 2-point conversion attempt with 2:44 to play in the fourth. Coverage by SGV Tribune reporter Tyler Drohan. Follow along on Twitter @SGVtylerd
