Cool. It's great that you like Joe. Here's a tip. Forget looking at your fretboard. How a guitarist acquires feel of play truly is by ignoring the fretboard.

Something happens in the mind that increases one's rhythmic connection when one can direct body movement without having to use the eyes as a guide.

Right now, you're stiff. Either you've not played long or you lack feel. Follow the above and you'll get feel.
