Mountain Lake PBS is pleased to present this preview of _Dead Reckoning ~ Champlain in America_ ... (www.champlaininamerica.org) the story of a man who failed to find a northwest passage to China, but instead laid the foundation for a multicultural nation in North America. _Dead Reckoning ~ Champlain in America_ will focus on Samuel de Champlains years of exploration in North America, and his successful adaptation to the ways of the Amerindian people, who taught him how to explore and survive in the wilds of North America.

This high-definition media project will be broadcast on PBS throughout the United States and in parts of Canada in 2010. _Dead Reckoning ~ Champlain in America_ is a compelling multi-media exploration of Champlains journeys, informed by current academic scholarship and archeological research. Cutting-edge animators and filmmakers in Canada and the United States will create the first historically accurate, completely animated documentary on Samuel de Champlain to be broadcast in the US and Canada. Video segments will also be streamed on an interactive Website and delivered to the cell phones of travelers along Quebec, Ontario and New York highways and waterways. In consultation with Canadian and American scholars, Mountain Lake PBS will create educational content that meets curriculum and K-12 pedagogical needs, including interactive lesson plans and supportive web-based content suitable for a number of educational outlets.

Award-winning filmmaker Frank Christopher will produce and write the Champlain media project. Christophers films and television programs have garnered numerous awards including: an Academy Award Nomination for Best Feature Length Documentary and the highest awards from major film festivals.
