@32middlelinebacker No. When I designed my frame I made it a bit wide between the rails so the tank could fit between them. There are three 8" channels between the frame rails at front, middle and back of fuel cell. If I got t-boned, to get to the tank the 8" C channels would have to bend axially. Not likely! Fuel Safe did modify my design a little in that they added a "scavenger box" inside. It is basically a small box with ping pong balls for check valves to trap sloshing fuel.

@1966ih for sure! and yeah my tank is on the passengers side too. I was thinking of building a step rail/rock gaurd as a little bit of t-bone protection as cheap insurance for my body panels but i doubt it. 70 gallons is alot haha but im only looking for a smaller one, 200 liters. Thanks for the offer on the tire chains but you are probably out of the states im assuming and im western canada, maybe too much effort for a set of chains! Any changes you would do next time you built a new fuel cell?
-
@32middlelinebacker Sounds like you have a solid vision with realistic expectations. Check out my BUILD UP videos. I had Fuel Safe in Oregon build to my drawings, a 70 gallon aluminum fuel cell, The old IH had the gas tank under the passenger outside frame rail. That is a death trap in a side collision. If you decide you want tires chains for your 37's let me know. I build 'em.

@1966ih pretty well just a low pro camper then eh? Deecent. Im almost done mine. Dana 80 rear dana 60 front out of dodges, keeping the stock np202 in there, getting my friends dad to build a 450hp 383 for it mated to a 700r4 tranny. Gunna run 37's and its got a pretty good lookin bushgaurd on it from when my grandpa bought it new in 1964. thinkin of making an aluminium slip tank for under the box in between the fram rails and either have a pump to push fuel to the main tank or just run the slip.

@32middlelinebacker I had the canopy built by ARS, custom, including the color match to the body. Thanks for the nice comment. I insulated the canopy with 1" thick closed cell foam. I also installed a 12,000 BTU double vented RV furnace (propane). There are also cutouts of the foam that I place into the windows at night. 4" of Open Cell foam on the bottom. Plus wooden cabinets to keep my beagles out of the food!!

Hey that canopy is awesome i want one for my binder. same bodystyle as yours and 8 1/2 foot bed too. did you fab it up urself?
-
@Cheapbikes No. it is built from 3"x8"x1/4" wall structural steel tubing. Cross member are 8" "C" channel gusseted with 6" channel. Frame weighs 1,000 lbs all by itself. Check out my build up videos to see it.

is it the stock frame?

@LuciferTJ Thanks. We did not get this level of snow yet this year. Bummer.

Badass rig man! Nice and constant on the throttle... keep em churning and they'll do it!

Badass rig man!

@1966ih Oh I see well great truck you have built there :)
-
@Torqu3d It is 8'6" wide. Especially with the tire chains on (that is another 500 pounds of weight which centers on the wheel) she is very stable on side hills. Yep, she is a throttle body fuel injected 502 crate motor. However, I put on a 3" diameter Borla stainless steel exhaust system with the longest and most quiet exhaust they had. She already draws enough attention with her looks and I did not want to give the authorities anything else to wonder about!!
-
Wow it's got a wide stance, awesome truck. Is that really packing a 502, it doesn't sound like one.

@TheBigrodger Thanks. Been wheeling the last 5 weekends in a row in Forkston. I am keeping the trails open from fallen trees and growth. Got down to zero this weekend. Love my propane RV furnace!! About a foot of snow up top at 2400 feet and only 4 inches down the bottom at 800 feet. Tough to do any good video when I am by myself. Tnx for the nice comment. Ron

I love these videos!! What a truck!!
-
@1966ih damn.. this is a "fucking" monster truck to me...
every year we are riding our 4x4 to the chalet when the skidoo trails are closed then there is about 2 ft of hard snow and mud in some places , i guess this truck could goes straight thru without any worries... anyway nice job , im verry impressed and i will continue to watch your videos ;)
-
@numerobis1982 The truck probably has around 40K into her. The Rockwell FDS was used in a lot of applications. A popular one was f600-f700 Ford mid 1980s to early 90's. Not sure where the rear Spicer N175 was used. Eintre drive train from engine back is about 25KGVW. Tranny is 6 speed Eaton Fuller FS7206A (2 inch dia output shaft-9 to one low gear). Transfer case is Fabco TC 38, weight 475 lbs. 2 inch dia input & output shafts.

around how mutch it cost to build this truck?
and the front/rear diff came from witch kind of truck?
Mack Truck? International truck? kenworth?
-
That was some sick truckin man I have never seen snow and this gave me a glimps of what I would want to do in the snow go off road nice got stuck sometimes but she handle it like a champ like where u put the chainsaw equipment gotta have it very awesome video God Bless and Aloha.
-
@lumlain Yep! She loves gas. HI-TEST!! I have a 70 gallon fuel cell on her. My typical wheeling range is about twice that of a "normal" vehicle with a stock gas tank. But I really need to be employed to afford to wheel her!!!
Regards
Ron
