As far as putting them with another bird - you should be careful because if the Cockatoo gets upset &/or jealous and gets a chance they can severly harm a smaller bird. I have friend with both and the Cockatoo bit off one the Cockatiels toes.

Below are a couple of web sites dealing with cockatoos.

I guess the best advise would be to study all you can regarding these birds - talk with Cockatoo owners

Before purchasing a Cockatoo Please, Please read and study all you can regarding behavior, habits, feeding and taking care of this bird. They require consistancy in thier life.

They are just like have a 2 year old child around all the time never to get older than a 4 year old child.

They live up to 80 years - So a 2 year old forever.

the main thing is to really do a lot of research regarding these birds: "The good condition is lots of loving and good nutrition along with mental stimulation with an assortment of toys".

Read all you can about parrots - their needs, demands, socialization skills etc. etc.

One book to read is "my human, my slave"

Riley is a "lesser Sulfur Crested Cockatoo"

They require lots of time, patience, toys - they are a high maintenance bird.

  • What a gorgeous 'too! How old?

  • Thank you - He is 10 years old.

  • thy throw little tantrums too, and they do wild dance, they really are like having a toddler, but they're endless enjoyment jjust like a toddler too :) and just about as noisy, I'd own one except for the noise

  • @rbaremor i'm not worried about other stuff, just the time/attention per day they need. I read a lot of articles and seen some videos, I would temporarily adopt one but we live in Slovenia (EU) so we can't, my mom's friend who has loads of birds and has such a friendly sulfur crested cockatoo, he's hand-fed and spoiled, just like my cockatiel (he's less secure, because he's not hand-fed) but that cockatoo was stuffed into a plastic pot by a little girl. We're probably getting a baby from him.
