Adam's Story (August 28, 2007 Ozark, MO)
United Way's Day of Caring is a special day for many people in our community. This year, it was especially unique for two United Way volunteers, Tom Cobb and Brad Prost, employees at Interactive Hotel Solutions. This year Tom, Brad and the rest of the volunteers from Interactive Hotel Solutions were introduced to Adam.
Adam is a 22-year-old NASCAR enthusiast and Dale Earnhart Jr. #1 fan. He lives in a group home operated by a United Way member agency. Adam made quite an impression on Tom and Brad.
They were so touched by Adam they decided they wanted to do something special for him. With Adam's birthday coming up it was the perfect time to surprise him with something he had always wanted. Along with the help of Interactive Hotel Solutions owner, Doug Lurvey and Adam's aunt, Kathleen, they arranged to take Adam to his very first NASCAR race in Kansas City.
Adam was overwhelmed with excited when Brad and Tom showed up at his home with a bag full of gifts and tickets to a NASCAR race!
With the support of United Way, Adam and hundreds of men, women and children in our community are receiving the support they need to face critical challenges in their lives. With the help of United Way Adam has not only received the critical care he needs, but has also made two new friends for life

  • what a beautiful story something so simple makes him so happy it is so nice

  • My names Adam

  • I have two aunts who are twins, they both have cerebral-palsy and me and my family surprised them a couple weeks ago at the group home they live at for their birthday, they live in the Wendall Foster center in Owensboro,Ky where the Waltrips are from, and I love it when I see a smile on their faces, it's a 15 hour drive to get to them and my family can't go that often, it just saddens me that I might never see one of them again, since they are in their late 60s and have been at that group home
