@why2lie That's a funny, ignorant comment. Without the French, the Americans would be still an English colony. As for "being lazy"… LOL! The men who conquered a huge empire in Africa and SE Asia were courageous, hard-working sailors, soldiers and builders. That does not excuse colonial crimes, of course. @therightman231 Funny comment. The United States don't fight more than France for democracy or freedom. Otherwise they would have intervened in 1914 and in 1939. We democracies are not the ideal freedom fighters that we claim to be: We are just less cynical than dictatorships. There were anti-imperialists in the United States during the Viet-nam war, just as in France during the Algerian war. There was no such opposition in USSR or in Japan in the 1930s!
