Out of a suppressive future ruled by robotic sentinels comes a man determined to change the past. Killer cyborgs trace him back to the past and relentlessly pursue him. On the run, he meets a woman who believes in him and aids him in his quest. Sound familiar? While Harlan Ellison would posit that James Cameron's THE TERMINATOR stemmed from his stories ("Demon with a Glass Hand," "I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream," "Soldier," etc.), the parallels between Cameron's 1984 film are startling.

  • I first saw this in the '70s and loved it. When I saw Terminator (the original), I thought someone had updated and remade this film. The plot is virtually identical - cyborg comes back from the future to change the past and prevent his own creation - typical Grandfather Paradox. I admit that the plot is closer to T2 than T1, but T2 hadn't been thought of at that point!

  • Its virtually Soldier, I have no Mouth and I must Scream and the Demon with a Glass Hand but mostly Soldier and I have no Mouth and I must Scream are definetly inspirations

  • jeff mills just made an album based on the concept of this movie and it is unreal crazy time traveling cyborg music

  • Haven't seen this in decades...loved it as a kid. It also greatly resembles the Outer Limits episode "Soldier"...

  • @gbboi you are lame according to the faggot shit you listen to and your taste...this movie is legendary...

  • Considering that two of the other actors guest starred on Star Trek, it would've been great to see Michael Rennie play a guest part on Star Trek also. Just a thought.

  • I saw this decades ago and liked it, though it has low-budget written all over it. I think it largely inspired "The Terminator" movies, though they were much better done. Outstanding actor, Michael Rennie, must have been hurting to have stooped to doing this!

  • lame

  • I see industrial designers had worked their magic on the panel of Michael Rennie's time machine, putting controls on the BACKSIDE where he couldn't see them and had to reach around and fumble. I have lots of electronic equipment like that. This film was prescient.
