I am sorry to be the first to click the ''not like'' button. The music is of course terrific and so is the performance; the slideslow, though not my cup of tea, is certainly beautiful and fits the music surprisingly well. BUT - why did you cut this first part almost in the middle?! It's true that this is the 'Unfinished' symphony, but the first part was finished and right after your cut there is an amazing climax. What a pity: there's only one Karajan's 'Unfinished' on YT and it's mutilated.

@Spiritakis My first intention was to put the thumb down because of a bad comment, but I didn't. It is okay by me that it is not your cup of tea, nice to read further that you did find it fits well with the music, but I do really hate it that people simply assume that I do something, like you assume that I have cut in the music. I have bought this piece the way it is in the store, so blame them and not me. Nevertheless thank you for your time to watch and listen.

Thank you for your answer. I don't have a copy of the CD but as far as I can see from timings on Amazon, the first part of Schubert's Unfinished seems complete, quite unlike the video above. Leaving aside the fact that symphonies really should be listened to in toto, the recording does indeed contain some of Karajan's best recordings; and some of them are rather scarce on other CDs, like the pieces by Strauss for instance. Will get a copy for them only.

@Spiritakis The CD has the title "Herbert von Karajan - The Legend" and was released by EMI in 2008 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Karajan's birthday. I don't know if there's also a recording of the Schumann-Symphonies only, because this is a double-cd-mix. It is a recommndable recording, in my opinion.

I would certainly blame the people who release such ridiculously cut versions, not something unusual for Karajan's recordings, alas. But you're not altogether innocent either, for you propagate the mutilation.

Anyway, it doesn't really matter. People who really care for the music will know what to listen to. In case you do care, I suggest you find a complete recording of the symphony.
