Coldplay 'Clocks' vs Imogen Heap 'Hide and Seek' mix and all additional instruments by Steve Gregory. Uses Akai APC40 controller plus Ableton Live software. Plugins include Trilian, Omnisphere, and Stylus. Lots of effects!
Due to the fact that I haven't got my video camera this weekend, I've cut together something to keep you from getting bored from existing music videos. The footage of the APC40 is shot with my camera phone. I recorded a pass of me playing it live and then went back and did all the screengrabs of the various plugins.

  • sorry if my question is dumb but do u use the eq to make your vocals accapella?

  • @endy0430 Yes, all done with eq. There are other techniques, but I find this the quickest and easiest.

  • Hey, do you find that the APC40 has a large enough grid for you to play with compared to the launchpad?

  • More than enough. Personally I'm not really that into the launchpad, but that's only because I really use the sliders and knobs a lot.

  • If you don't already have a #1 fan, I could be it.

    Do you take requests?

  • Haha :) thanks!

Yeah I'm open to requests, just might take a while to get to it as my day job keeps me pretty busy!

  • 2012!

  • so good :D

  • @stephencgregory hide and seek is an acapella anyway, (well pretty much.. vocal and harmoniser)

  • you're like the first person i've seen on youtube that has any talent. somebody needs to speed up that heap of imogene. ';wish we could sit around for half a day and talk about the 30-100hz region. your stuff sounds very good but i sense an overcompression and the low sub octave seems to wash in the couple of videos i've viewed. concerns: tranparency, dynamic range, distinction in sub octaves. you obviously have a good and musical ear. mixing well takes a long time (20 years to learn?), steps

  • GENIUS! I AM SO HAPPY! caps locks needed!

  • Nice Vid

  • That was GREAT Steve! Can you do more of these mixes? I'm getting my APC 40 this weekend, I can't wait!

  • bassline clashes on a level. but i like the style of this track. classic late 90's style jam.
