There is a very nice cob(earthen, sand, straw, water) home in new zeland that has survived two earthquakes and is still in good condition. Some structures in europe are cob structures and have survived for over 500 years.

I just bought a farm in Austria , It's made out of cob and has a straw roof . Its about 100 years old . there are problems if not well maintained
And a little insight to the most common problem=Humidity . sooo a good foundation and place it self helps ...an overhanging roof or porch ,and well build stem walls .
plastering is another issue , cause walls need to " breath " and transfer humidity etc.
If this is all taken into perspective and works out fine ...it could last 500 years !
