Robert Morey's National Mail Fraud: "Debts/Unauthorized Expenses?" #7

Radio host Bob Morey, with wife Anne Morey as his chairman of the board of his REF "ministry," sends out national mailouts by the thousands in a wild mail fraud scam to solicit sympathy & support from the public. Morey claims that his two former unpaid volunteers, the Wessels brothers of Texas, had lied about being owed debts from his ministry & that they had "unauthorized" expenses. Of course, Morey conveniently forgets to tell the public that his own 1992 REF IRS return that he signed himself reveals that Morey's ministry owed the Wessels brothers close to $33,000. Morey's own video man reveals that many of the so-called "unauthorized" expenses were legitimate because Larry Wessels was paying for many of Morey's videos out of his own pocket. Hank Hanegraaff, director of the Christian Research Institute & host of the "Bible Answer Man" radio show whose founder was Dr Walter Martin who was a frequent guest on the John Ankerberg Show says "Dr" Robert A. Morey of Faith Defenders, Biblical Thought, Faith Community Church (FCC), California Biblical University and Seminary (CBUS), Bob Morey Live, and Doxological Apologetics is dishonest & unscholarly. Hanegraaff's comments come in reference to a report Morey wrote in his national "Researcher" newsletter attacking Gregory A. Boyd, author of the book, "Oneness Pentecostals and the Trinity." Boyd's book was endorsed by Hanegraaff & the CRI staff. In a letter by Dr. Boyd he states, "..."Truth-Seeker Bob [Morey] went after me with a vengence. He was trying to prove Hank Hanegraaff was incompetent in endorsing my book by proving that I was a heretic on the basis of my former book "Trinity and Process". He sent letters around the country telling Christian distributors to stop selling my books because I was (among other things) a process theologian, that I denied the Incarnation, I denied the Trinity!!!, and I was, in short, a closet liberal. His tactics half worked as my book sales dropped significantly. I still get hassaling mail from people about this. Well, to make a long story short, I have never in my life encountered, or even imagined, such blatant malice, deceit, and vile ungodliness -- let alone in someone who taunts himself as a Christian leader. At first I thought this was just an extraordinarily dull person (I had never heard of him before) who couldn't read, who had an extraordinary meglomaniac streak which made him want to be a "scholar." Hence he looked silly. But, as the case wore on, I began to see that the situation was far worse. He 'had' to understand my work enough to know 'how' to distort it. And, I began to see, he had to be lying intentionally to be so consistent and manipulative with them. This man, I finally came to see, WAS EVIL. He's a megalomaniac with a vengence, and so far as I can see, not an ounce of honesty or integrity to curb it with. This man is, in my estimation, very bad for Christianity, and very dangerous." Your comment hits the nail squarely on the head. If the facts presented in these videos were not true then "Truth Seeker Bob" Morey would have the perfect opportunity to sue our butts off with a powerful lawsuit to prove his case. However, all poor "Fraudmaster" Morey can hope is that not too many people will find out about all this so he can continue to ripoff new & unsuspecting victims wherever he can find them.
