Royal Icing

3 tbps meringue powder
1/3 cup warm water
4 1/4 cups icing sugar
1/2 tsp cream of tartar

combine above ingredients.
Beat at low until combined
Beat at high 7-10 minutes until VERY stiff
When not using icing, cover with plastic wrap
This icing is excellent cookie house "cement" as it hardens to a rock hard consistency.

Stained "glass" windows

Place 20-25 hard candies (one colour or many colours) on a foil lined cookie sheet, 3/4" apart.
Melt in oven at 300F for about 10 minutes or until candy is melted together.
Remove from oven, let cool for 5 minutes or until candy feels dry to the touch but still soft.
Score candy while still warm with large knife to make windows.

Let cool completely and then snap apart at score lines. Store between layers of waxed paper if not used right away.

  • Hi Tammy, I don;t understand how to pipe icing with the cookie gun. Please help.

  • Great looking gingerbread house !! Wish i lived in one so i can eat it LOL :D

  • I wouldn't want to eat that!!

  • one thing you might want to try is when you cook the house putting the gummies with the house, it normally works for me, i do a test to see how long it takes for them to melt in the oven and just add them in. if some leaks out i put that on inside :)

  • sooo cutee ;D
