The First Amendment

On the second day of the 112th Congress (January 6, 2011), Congresswoman Giffords read aloud on the House floor the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

@da324 GWB started 2004 with stable economy, not an economic collapse. Obama got 2008 with financial crisis, automakers going bankrupt, rising unemployment, and two wars. It took Cons 8 years to fuck up country and how can you blame Obama for not fixing it in 2 years?

You think we are spending too much? What do you think would happen if GM went under and banks would fail? Private sector failed, failed hard. Like it or not, its government's term to step in, like it did in 30-40's.

Is America Being Deprived of Godly People Through Denying the children when they are young ? What is the long run outcome when children are deprived of Gods love ? What does Jesus Say if we deny the little Children Gods real love ? This country was indeed founded on Gods love & indeed we can go all the way back &see it was founded on Gods love even before America Had its Independence ! Look at roger williams & all the others whom were the real founding fathers& mothers as hear is the real truth.

They (Government) took Christianity out of the Schools when I was in 2-3rd grade.That was wrong ! When did the schools become Governmental institutions? Christianity was our Nations schools & Churches Save Catholic & Jew Schools, So the Government Governed over the Christian faith Religion & today & for many years allow New age cults whom deny God & National security of our nation to govern our children in the schools ! So we may loose our freedoms we have all known, & no USA in God We trust. ?

Back then their were only 2 religions that were acceptable with the Settlers in America: 1. Christianity, Catholic's same as Christians (O.T.& N.T.), & 2. Jews Which are of the O.T(of the Same God)Their were no other religions at the said time in American Settlers Hearts, Minds & Souls. I don't think they ever knew this country would have become as great as it is to day & so we need to Go back & pay respects to that laws for which time it was written or we will loose this nation.ACLU Controls ?

If read correctly : The Formed Government has no rights to Govern the rights to those with Christianity ! It also does not deny a member of the Government of Gods love in them. it has indeed prohibited Christianity yet respects other forms of liberties ACLU that came along later above the first amendment and thus disrespects their rights in Christianity but allows all other forms of religions, cults protected under ACLU. General & President Washington prayed with His military troops !
