Terrorism of the disabled condemned by disability rights group Black Triangle at a demo against cuts and corporate tax avoidance on the day of the public sector strikes of June 30th '11. Disabled people are among the most vulnerable victims of the cuts. Nearly every disabled person applying for ESA is found "fit for work" to the point where the disability assessment centre has been nicknamed " Lourdes " as apparently everyone gets miraculously cured! Most people win their benefit on appeal which they have to wait months for, then no sooner have they been awarded the benefit than they are sent another form to make a renewal claim, meaning that they do not even get a few weeks respite from the mental stress and hardship that goes with the several month-long process from receiving the form, trying to fill it in when mental health or energy is poor, anticipating the medical interview, travelling there when mobility is poor, going through with the lengthy test, waiting for the response in the post which is almost always negative, having all benefits stopped immediately, trying to organise themselves to receive advice and representation and stressing out or getting more depressed over months waiting for the appeal. Many can't face going for an appeal or even seeking advice, then lose their benefit and are forced to actively seek work that they are not fit to do, work that is in extreme shortage, even for those who are fit to do it. People who are unemployed for any length of time are forced to work for their benefit and this includes the disabled who have been refused disability benefits. Imagine how exhausting and even life-threatening doing any normal paid work can be for the disabled, never mind work schemes where they don't receive either a wage or even a disability premium on top of their benefit when they are actually usually in need of a higher income than the non-disabled to compensate for the fact that their condition means they have higher living costs than most people. Whether the disability is primarily physical or mental, nearly every disabled person forced into work will suffer a massive degeneration in their mental health as a result of not being able to cope with work, and even those who win on appeal still suffer a worsening of their mental health due to the stress and anxiety caused by the constant threat to their physical existence if they are denied the means to live. To say they suffer from terrorism at the at the hands of the system is not an exaggeration. It is psychological bullying (and physical too.) Many people with ongoing depression or under-recognised physical illnesses like M.E. have committed suicide, due to lengthy suffering from the illness itself when no cure seems in sight and seemingly no one taking them seriously, but it is often the refusal of disability benefit that is the final straw. That is why the speaker says "ATOS kills." Edinburgh writer Paul Reekie, a contemporary of Irving Welsh, killed himself after undergoing a work capability assessment and this sparked off the Black Triangle campaign in defence of disability rights. The government instead of spending money on enabling the sick and disabled to live, prefers to waste money by not collecting the billions owed by tax-dodging banks and corporations. ATOS Origin are paid bonuses for achieving certain targets in booting sick people off benefit. How far will they go? The Nazis exterminated disabled people. The modern equivalent is terrorising or exhausting them to death, and part of the propaganda campaign to legitimise it in the UK is to allege that the claimants are scroungers faking it.

They are trying this crap with my father whos back is fucked beyond any chance of recovery. I am going to pursuade him to take this to the courts and have these idiots answer to a judge. The minute that jury sees they have broken multiple laws its an instant win. I am also getting the press involved and will be dragging David Cameron into this.
