Glad you posted this! It helped me to evaluate what is going on with my firings. I just got a new kiln (again) this time its got a controller so I'm hoping I can get a more precise idea about the firings.
What was the difference in the clays? Could it just have been a bad batch...how do you know?

The basement is damp. Does that give you problems? The kiln evaporates the moisture in the brick or pots (not that I have ever had to put damp pots in) in the early stages of the firing...so why use the dehumidifier?
That does look like a mini me, but it's my little sister :)

Hey Dan,
Do you mean the the slightly different temps the witness cones are showing? I don't think that's the cause of the blistering either. I was just using the video as a record of what happened on each shelf.
Yeah the two pots that I glazed awhile back did come out much better, but I realized afterwards that it was the same batch of glaze as on all the blistered pots. So the only big difference was the type of clay.
Thanks :) I will!
The large cream colored dish is very cool. This time of year I'm really digging the lighter colors. The large green bowl with handles is a favorite too.
The green casserole dish is really nice. Does the blistering make it unsafe to use?
Thanks for sharing :)

Hey Cindy,
Thanks! those are my faves too.
Not in this case, the clay is vitrified and the one or two blisters are not a big deal, I'll take the dremel tool to em and soften the edges so they don't trap bits of food in there.

Thank you for sharing, your pots look great! Sorry about the blistering. Do you have a vent in your kiln? I have only done a bisque firing in my kiln, hope to do my first glaze firing soon.
Thanks again ~ Karen

Thanks Karen! I do not have a vent, I think I need to look into that.
Have fun with the glaze firing!
