As we pay our tax bills, it seems an appropriate time to urge everyone to Rethink Afghanistan, a war that currently costs over $2 billion a month but hasn't made us any safer. Everyone has a friend or relative who just lost a job. Do we really want to spend over $1 trillion on another war? Everyone knows someone who has lost their home. Do we really want spend our tax dollars on a war that could last a decade or more? The Obama administration has taken some smart steps to counter this economic crisis with its budget request. Do we really want to see that effort wasted by expanding military demands?

Watch Pulitzer Prize-winning authors and journalists, military and foreign policy experts, leading economists, and many more explain just how much the war in Afghanistan will cost us over how many years.

We must urge Congress to raise key questions about this war at once. As FireDogLake blogger Siun recently wrote, "Once again we are planning a surge with no exit plan and a continued lack of concern for the most basic protection of the civilians in the land we claim to liberate."

  • Surely those who disbelieve spend their wealth to hinder (people) from the way of Allah; so they shall spend it, then it shall be to them an intense regret, then they shall be overcome; and those who disbelieve shall be driven together to hell.

  • Just end the fucken war. And hopefully the U.S will not involve itself in 10 year wars anymore because it's bull shit.

But we'll never learn and we'll prob go ahead and try to "liberate" another country and spend trillions more on that country. Not to mention American lives will go down the drain. *Sigh* We are not the world's jesus christ so we need to stop acting like the world savior and spend money where it counts. Not on people who won't fight for them selves.

  • Both wars R currantly costing over 100 billion per year. 4 out of 10 soldiers returning from the Mid-East, claim they suffer from PTSD, and collect, on average, $1,600. per month for the rest of their lives! This makes the US Government the biggest employer in the country. And the Republicans aprove of it !

  • congratulation! we spent 1.2 trillion dollars on military budgets (only fiscal cost).

  • another 3 trillion dollars? watch?v=1OT5uw1Fb_0

  • Dear america,

    We regret being terrorist bastards

We regret blowing up the world trade center

And we most certainly regret that the corps has come to kick or ass out

    Oorah!!!

  • I couldn't differentiate who is more evil of the two..America or Talibans

  • Iraq war was a failure. Conditions there are worse than ever.

After 9 years in Afghanistan there is no sign of any victory, if anything it is getting worse for the allies.

How much longer are the American public going to be duped by their government?

Why do the american public think victory is just around the corner with some fantastic new strategy and plan?

If you support your troops then bring them home else you forsake them to a fruitless war with their deaths being in vain.

  • No more wars. We are going to end the evil in killing for all times. We are going to use our ideas to combat evil without harming any single human life.

  • @Clownx66 It is not about acting as the world savior!! Its about robbing the resources of the world!!

  • @MrFlyPerfect Enter Pakistan and let the Pakistanis enter Afghanistan!! ;) Lets play cool!!
