Always concerned about these sorts of videos, but you obviously didn't force him and praised afterwards with rubs, so this is good.

thats true. but like my trainer always say, 'get use to it!'. horses really need to learn to get use to these kinds of things. i'll be twice as dangerous to avoid potentially distraction instead of getting them use to it.

Be careful what you wish for. We hve a tour pony thats smart enough to know when he has good riders and bad, and if they're bad, he'll just laysdown and rolls still with the client on his back sometimes. Any hints on how to STOP this. WARNING,Don't ever show an intelligent horse you get off if they lie down unless your prepared to deal with it.!!!!!

@Namaegaaru well that as it may be if the horse never has to get used to a dog that is gentle and supervised then say on a trail a dog pops out of no where then the horse is likely to bolt and injure either its self, rider, or both. where as if it is trained in an enviroment where dogs or other animals can interfere then they are less likely to bolt if they see something new that could be a danger until the point that they are sure it really is a danger or their rider lets them know to run

Haha. He didn't like the dog sniffing his butt very much. That's awesome. I wanna teach my horse to do that. He's not much of a "trick" horse though. :D
how did you teach him

first got him to bow and get on his knees confidently and then to lie down. Now he is pretty confident in lying down....
