@macrumpton I noticed that too. Seems like he's got a good start, but I'd like him to shift the top back about 90 deg to give the sail a helix configuration. magical things happen when you do that. Speed stabilizes so it won't over-rev under any wind condition.

to make you prototype better put solar panels on the blades and then use both the sun and the wind to give you power don't stop inventing

You should hook this up somehow and have it generating your electiricity :)

@noamdodo That's clearly not true, there are plenty of videos of turbines on Youtube which use exactly that principle...

Thumbs Up! What material are you using? I recently suggested Tyvek to a friend and I thought I would see what you use. Thanks for sharing your video.

verry sailish

Nice. Nice music to go with it too.

I'm not sure why you made the top of wings pinched together rather than making them like the bottom.

The music sounds like " Kitaro "
Good work ! Have you considered making the sails in the shape of a spinakker ?
etiennealive 2 years ago
The spinakker will not do since it will blow in opposite direction during rotation. you must! have a fixed curved shape and not a flexible one.

I understand the curve needs to be fixed. What will happen do you think when you could some how, fix the shape of a spinakker. doesn't it have a better airodynamic shape than ?

a semi ball type shape will have better lift / drag than a cylindrical one

Have you considered making the ribs a little bit flexible so that the sail could collapse on the upwind side?
sjh7132 2 years ago
If flexible ribs are chosen the thing will not rotate because the force extracted by the wind will always balance itself and both sides will induce same drag forces to push it away from the wind.
