http://www.shawnclementgolf.com Shawn Clement, #1 MOST POPULAR INSTRUCTOR-TEACHER ON YOU TUBE and Director of the Richmond Hill Golf Learning Centre, CLASS A CANADIAN PGA MEMBER, shows you how the proper tilt away from the target is what actually de-lofts the club through the ball for compressed strikes and great spin!

  • I am a scratch golfer and I've had a few issues with hitting the ball too high. I watched this video and kept hitting 50 percent shots like you described here and it dropped my shots much lower and now I'm able to control my ball patch much easier this way. I still have a problem trying to fade trying to do this unless I open the face on impact or delay my release. If I come across the line or over the top rather to pull or fade I just snap hook it. How can you get clean compression and fade?

  • @TheEpiceon Great question! See my "working the ball part 1, 2 and 3" and you will understand better; you still want to be behind the ball with the fade but be very aware of the low point in the swing! See also "Awareness to low point in the swing"; All the best! Shawn

PS, don't be shy about talking about this on my forum; we have some terrific seasoned guys to help you out!

  • Shawn,

I have couple questions. Are you using the squating action to bring the arms down faster or just for supporting the upper body and arms swinging?

When you let the arms come down and swing is it like a pulling action on the club or is it more like using the upper body to swing the arms through the ball?

    Neal

  • @wardn53 You are on the right track Neal! You should pose these questions on my forum and enjoy the responses from our very enthusiastic and polite WIG'ers (Wisdom in Golfers) as we call ourselves; the answer is all of the above but it is not your job to think about it; yes, it is important to understand though. See "hitting the ball is not your job; part 1 and 2; shawn clement" ; Shawn

  • @clemshaw

I've been watching your videos for about a year now and I love the great information. I was wondering if you were ever going to do a video on how to transfer your swing from the golf mats to actual grass because with my wedges ans short irons i can hit it all over the flag with your swing methods and when i get on the course i hit it fat more than I would like. any help would be great.

  • @buc85strong When you are on the course, you are trying to avoid a fat shot right? So your focus would be on the contact with the ball in that case right? THAT IS WHAT THE PROBLEM IS!! :) Your focus should be on the action of the swing to the target and KNOWING THAT IF YOU DO RELEASE TO THE TARGET that the ball and ground in front of it is in the way; see "pure strike part 1 and 2; shawn clement" and "ridiculously easy part 1 and 2; shawn clement"

  • @TheEpiceon if you were a scratch golfer you wouldnt be looking at these type lessons.

  • Hi Shawn, do you have any drill/tip on how to keep the head behing the ball? The problem you described in this video it's exactly what happened to me after reading the golfing machine and other related books and videos, so i became obsessed with hitting down on the ball but with very poor results especially with long irons. When i consciously try to keep my head behind I dont seem to able to do it enough. Thanks for the great videos, your passion for teaching the game is inspirational to me. Fr

  • Shawn, Some swings seem like they start by a pulling down action on the club right through to the hit. Almost like they are pulling down on the club and scooping up the ball. Other swings look like they start by the arms barely falling and the upper body just rotating as you can see in the Cabrera post on your site. With the driver he seems to have very little drop of the arms and just rotates his body.

    Still Confused

  • Sounds like were not listening to the GURU PEOPLE!!!!
