Some say the end is near.
Some say we'll see armageddon soon.
I certainly hope we will, I could use a vacation from this.

There were some animals that did survive the Permian-Triassic extinction. The Lystrosaurus a pig-sized herbivorous mammal-like reptile, and smaller carnivorous cynodont therapsids also survived. Were it not for these clever little guys, humans would not be here.
