Chino's admitted that this point in time was a bad one for him overall: drugs, relationships, ditching Deftones for side projects. It's not just fat vs. skinny Chino; it's sick vs. healthy Chino, and that affects his music. Musicians (generally) sound better when they're in a good place as human beings.
