This is a 1989 attempt at the Sikorsky Prize for human-powered helicopter flight. The footage was taken in the Main Gym at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, California, USA.

  • work on stability and a much much more complicated gearing system to get the correct rpm and you might have a chance at actualy getting anywhere with this.. but the way it is.. where it takes tyhree guys.. and ghoes 30cm up is a joke.. im sorry but it is.. it shows nothing really.

  • This gives you an idea about how easy electric motors could power a small helicopter. I think lightweight electric is the way forward to cheap affordable aircraft. If they were mass produced it would be cheaper.

  • would work if u managed to make 2 sets of pedals (one for hands one for legs) with a chain each, one chain pushes clockwise from the front and the other pushes clockwise from the back
