Oh come on the Dead are fucking awesome. Am sorry but u can't compare Barrett to Garcia as a musician. As much as i like Piper at the Gates of Dawn, The Grateful Dead's first 2 albums are incredible.

totally agree. Barrett was a stunningly original guitarist,vocalist and songwriter.3 studio albums and not a single solitary cliched blues lick.nobody made music like Syd Barrett, and Syd Barrett made music like nobody else.
JG was a run of the mill folk blues musician who took lots of acid.
So yes, i completely agree, you cant compare them...LOL.look im gonna shut up,i dont rate the GD, never have,never will...but i acknowlede that i seem to be in the minority on that point...!
