Rare was behind a little N64 game called Dinosaur Planet, which soon transformed into Star Fox Adventures.
Argonaut was behind the original Star Fox titles. The original company disbanded. One of the people responsible for Star Fox and this game, Dylan Cuthbert, founded the company Q-Games.
The game X-Scape for DSiWare is the spiritual successor to this title.
