Just got back from Bonaire. We stay next to Capt Don's at Buddy dive and go over at least 3-4 times for their Pizza. Best Pizza I have EVER had...

awesome video. I was able to do two guided dives from shore on this wreck in 2001. It's a stout swim, and you can decompress on the way back. It's a very deep dive, only went to 176 feet, but the one tank severely limited the bottom time. Wouldn't dive it again
without 2 tanks of air. One tank is just
crazy.

I also heard that it was a big storm that caused the fragile old wreck to collapse and that we are no longer allowed to dive it for security reasons. Hari, my PADA Nitrox training taught me that one doesn't go that deep on Nitrox . I dove this wreck with two tanks of air, one on my back and one in a sling with it's own reg. And ,yes, it was a lengthy decompression, but all part of the very carefully planned dive.

it didn't just 'collapse'. BOPEC refinery was tired of divers jeopardizing themselves (lets face it, diving the windjammer with just 1 tank is insane and most people know shit about what they're doing) and basically just fed up with them. They dropped an anchor into the wreck, causing it to collapse, the bastards. Nowadays, it is allowed to dive there with a TDI certified tech. instructor or tech. divemaster and you have to have advanced nitrox specialty, decompression stages specialty.
I'm from NJ also. I learned of the wreck from some people traveling with Atlantic Divers Dive Shop. This might have been around the same time.

Bonaire is the greatest. Did you ever go to Captain Don's for pizza?

Their shrimp/hot and chicken pizza's are the greatest. we never miss them when we're there.

I had the opportunity to dive this fascinating and very old wreck a few years ago before she collapsed.Glad you got this footage! She will certainly never be the same. I would like to go back and see just what she looks like now.

It's very disheartening the way it is now. I was extemely sad to see her that way.

Bonaier windjammer no more, the wreck has collapsed and is just a pile of junck.
With time I will post some widjammer footage, windjammer has been crushed by the Bopec people.

Yes, I dove it in February this year(07), and was sad to see it collapsed. I do not think it was Bopec, but mother nature that did her in. I remember being at 210 ft. beyond the mast once, narked out of my skull.
