@NodDisciple1: Not exactly. “hassen“ is “hating” and “du hasst” ist “you hate”, but “haben” is “have” and “du hast” (one s) is “you have”.

When you have grown up with it, you are very good at recognizing which one is meant from the timing.

And here, while the official song title is “Du hast“ (“You have“), he’s actually singing something in-between the two. I think to deliberately give it a double meaning.

So it’s a bit more complex. :)

that doesnt mean hate or own or something...they just say "you`ve asked me.." (you...you have...you have asked me...)
