Tom Petty - Last Dance for Mary Jane came out 1993.

RHCP - Dani California came out 13 years later in 2006

@prestonne1987 Besides what i meant by my first comment is that it hardly sounds like Tom Petty at all, its sounds like dani california all the way through, and that i can tell the difference. Not that i was saying they sound similar and i can see when they switch over it jsut sounds like tom petty lyrics being forced over teh top of dani california because the guitarist is clearly a chilis fan by the way he plays and looks similar to frusciante

@shallowbthygame Haha i know that it was showing that. Although i dont believe that they ripped off Tom Petty the tunes differ slightly, its hardly like the infamous case of The Chiffons - "He's so fine" and George Harrison - "My Sweet Lord" similarities. Trouble is there are only so many chords to play and beats out there that eventually they will sound similar.

If you knew the Peppers then plagiarism is never on the forefront of their minds
