@tooblinded Frankly I must admit that after intensive usage of netbook fan it IS a bit more noise than ussual :D but I dont think it is your case .. a "bit more" would not be so bad. Some of the older n270 came up with a pasive cooler because of their ultra-low TDP something around 2.5 Watt .. and they work similar when overclocked just with the less cooling needed .. nevertheless i am sorry for your netbook, it must be very annoying.

@tooblinded first of all , cooling pad required thing its not stated for fun purposes :) .. second thing is to set cooling performance in bios :) ..best for this is n550 wich can be rised to 1800 .. i´ve tested this on asus 1015p ... lenovo s10-3 and acer aspire one d255 a none of this made any noise i use them till present and everything is cool ... i dont want to offend you or anything but you might have crossed the faulty product.

@tooblinded try installing windows xp on the netbook if you have the time and interest and then post the results on the starcraft 2 run.... I have seen quite the difference in many games played on netbooks...
I know this is a bit too much but I'm the gaming on the cheap kind of person :D

the fraps are a bit blocky but seems ok

In the Documents -> StarCraft 2 -> Variables.txt file, you can decrease the graphics even more to get better performance.
Just open with notepad, make edits and then save.

@tooblinded bahh thats a shame, suppose I will have to use one of my familiy members pcs... thanks for the info
Combine TinyXP with overclock Atom to 2 GHz :) ... Starcraft 2 playable with no lags, safe for everyday playing... WARNING USAGE OF COOLING PAD REQUIRED. enjoy ;)

@7cevz9 Haha, a few months later I found out how to overclock my EEE to 1.99 Ghz as you said wich made even World of Warcraft (with the "FixedFuntion=1" parameter, Google) nearly perfect playable. But with the special benefit that my lovely EEE makes now a permanent "brrrrrr krckckckck grkkkkkkkkkk" sound while running because the cpu fans ball bearing didnt like the permanent challenge... I definitive disadvice overclocking, because my EEE made more fun with a bit less power but no noise ;)

@7cevz9 No problem, I'm a programmer and knew the risk :) The EEE is my secondary computer for outside, testing, geeking and such fun purposes =)

To answer all the questions at one time:
This was a technical test! It was not about playing the game.
The framerate you get with Starcraft 2 ist TOO LOW on this machine to play it comfortable. But it works technically.
I installed the full retail version with a key of my friend now. It also works, even the cut scenes, but the graphics are like Warcraft 3 anno 2003. Also, the in-game framerate is about 10 to 15 frames, it makes no fun to play.

is this the standard no modification netbook? the reason I ask is because I just purchased an eee 1000he pc and im trying to run sc2 on it... from what I can see here, it works pretty damn well if you didnt mod the pc at all

@cmonutube no modifications, just the eee 1000h, windows 7, 2 gb ram. works fine but not really playable if many units appear (real battles). i made this just for technical interests - will it blend? ;)
