THANK YOU!
I've been looking for this for EXACTLY 8 years!
I smoked bud for the first time after 12yrs of Navy Service and started remembering stuff from my childhood. For some reason, this music was stuck in my head. That stuff made me remember things from my childhood because everyone in my family smoked. So I was like, "what was that disco music on Buck Rogers?" I don't smoke at all though...it was just a flashback I had 8 years ago :)
Thanks again!

Say Alucard, your name is familiar to me. You wouldn't be a Gentle Giant fan by any chance, would you? The keys sound familair, too. Did they use a Moog, an Arp, or a combination of both for this?

This sounds like something that would come out of my old Commodore 64
.

It's called 'Something kinda funky' on the movie sound track- when they're doing the Futuristic Square/Contra Dancing, and Buck asks the SYNTH player to play 'something kinda funky'.... KooL MusiK!

@Alstom1995 lol thats the one thanks man kind of you to have done so
I deejayed at a sci-fi themed birthday party a good many years ago and stuck on this track as a joke........I got requests to play it again all night!!!! It's a great track (I still play it nowadays....but only to myself). Don't think the younger crowd would take to it anymore haha.

They might if it was remixed a little with some modern trance or techno most likely. The music is definitely one of the things that totally dates this show, but that's what adds charm to it as well.

The Track was performed by Micke Boddicker and Ian Underwood.(former Keyboarder of Frank Zappas "Mothers of invention) Composed by Stu Phillips.
You can find the Track on the original Soundtrack Album and CD to "Buck Rogers in the 25 th Century"

Thanks for the info. Do you know perhaps who performed the piece of music you hear in the episode with the space band being accused of warping kids minds and making them violent hooligans? It's the episode with Jerry Orbach (?!) as the manager for the band.

Of course i know ;)
The episode you mention was "Space Rockers"
with the fictional Band "Andromeda"
The Song was originally performed by Johnny Harris and is called "Odyssey".
There are some here on youtube. Search for "Johnny Harris" and "Odyssey" The Studio Version for this Song was recorded AFTER the Buck Rogers Show and was produced by KC of KC and the Sunshine Band. "Odyssey" was also included in the Game "GTA- San Andreas.

Awesome. Thank you very much for that info. I actually do remember hearing it on San Andreas a couple of times and wondering why I was hearing a Buck Rogers song on the game lol!!
